shortage of winter tires - Who's to blame?
Heuer Unfortunately there are problems with the delivery time and availability of winter tires and complete wheels.
Who bears the blame for the shortage of supply?
1) The scrapping (for us "eco-premium") calls forth shortage of winter tires, such as also reported autbild.de:
http://www.autobild.de/artikel/folge-der-abwrackpraemie_993769.html
2) As the tire industry by 1 August in short time was the post production now takes longer.
affected us why the German market?
This is important to know that in Austria there are no large tire store. The winter tires are delivered from a central warehouse for new tires in Germany (as well orf.at reports: http://kaernten.orf.at/stories/397709/ )

winter gear required
It is a "situational winter gear obligation", 1 November to 15 April of next year holds. Vehicles must be equipped with winter wheels for winter driving conditions (snow-covered road, snow, slush or ice). Alternatively, (mounted on the two drive wheels) summer tires with snow chains are used. However, this is only allowed if the road continuously or nearly continuously with Snow or ice covered.
